As a new beginners 6 week course in Meditation started last night I thought I would share with you some of the beautiful relaxing breathing exercises the new students learnt. They can be practised while Meditating or doing the dishes! Relaxing breathing techniques are great when we are feeling stressed, they help relax our body and calm our mind.
Firstly there is Elliptical Breathing. With Elliptical breathing we don't pause between breathing in or breathing out, it is a continuous breath. It can take some practise but well worth it. If you can visualise breathing around an oval shape, breathing in...breathing out...breathing in...breathing out. Go at your own pace so that your breathing is very comfortable.
Then there is Breathing with a Visualisation. With this type of breathing we picture in our mind or feel or hear a particular rhythm from our life experience, such as the ebb and flow of the waves on the beach. Breathing in as the sea flows towards us...and breathing out as the sea retreats.
Enjoy using these techniques, I would love to hear how you go.
